Massimo Volpe

Massimo Volpe is Professor of Cardiology and Chairman of Cardiology at the Specialty School of Cardiology, University of Rome “Sapienza”. He is Chief of the Cardiology Division and of the Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Science, Sant’Andrea Hospital, Rome, Italy. He is former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, University of Rome Sapienza. He has been Assistant Professor at New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical College, National Coordinator of the Research Evaluation process for the Area of Medicine (VQR) Ministry Of University and Research and a member of the National Committee for Research Supervision (CNGR) Professor Volpe’s primary research interests are neurohormonal control of circulation and cardiovascular structural and functional abnormalities in hypertension and heart failure. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (High Blood Pressure Council), and European Society of Cardiology, and a Hypertension Specialist of the European Society of Hypertension. He has served as President of the Italian Society of Hypertension, the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Prevention and the Italian College of Cardiology. Professor Volpe has authored more than 1000 publications in prestigious cardiovascular, peer reviewed, international journals, has lectured at major international congresses and Universities worldwide and has served on the editorial boards the American Journal of Hypertension, Journal of Hypertension, European Heart Journal and is Associate Editor of International Journal of Cardiology. He is Editor-in-Chief of High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Prevention. He has served as a reviewer for many top scientific journals and international cardiovascular research programmes.
