Leonidas Poulimenos

Leonidas Poulimenos MD, FESC is interventional cardiologist, and head of the Department of Cardiology, at “Asklepeion” General Hospital, Athens, Greece. He is past chairperson of the working group on Valvular Heart Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension of the Hellenic Cardiological Society. His scientific interests are coronary artery disease (interventions and medical management), hypertension and its consequences in heart and vessels, and valvular heart disease. He is a reviewer for scientific journals and has participated in many international clinical trials. He has authored many papers in peer reviewed international journals, and chapters in books, mainly in the fields of hypertension and coronary artery disease.

Leonidas E. Poulimenos is a prominent interventional cardiologist currently serving as the Lead Clinician and Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Asklepeion Voulas General Hospital in Athens, Greece. A graduate of the University of Athens School of Medicine and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology , he is a recognized leader in his field, having previously chaired the Working Group on Valvular Heart Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, and Pulmonary Hypertension for the Hellenic Society of Cardiology. Dr. Poulimenos possesses deep clinical expertise in transradial coronary interventions, structural heart diseases, hemodynamic assessments, and hypertension management. He has a robust academic track record, with 78 publications in international and Greek peer-reviewed journals , 15 book chapters , and over 300 lectures delivered globally. He also operates as a Principal Investigator in multiple randomized controlled trials within interventional cardiology and heart failure settings.
