Julian Loh

I obtained my medical degree from Trinity College Dublin, University of Ireland graduating with Second Class Honours in 2008. I received the Intern medal (Gold) during my house officer year in 2009 from St James Hospital, Dublin, the largest University teaching hospital in the Republic of Ireland. I undertook my Basic Specialty Training in Dublin and obtained my Postgraduate Membership Examinations of both the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the UK in 2011. I returned to Singapore thereafter and completed the Singhealth Senior Residency Program in Cardiology and obtained specialist accreditation in 2017. I have competed postgraduate diplomas from the American Board of Echocardiography and in Palliative Medicine while undertaking my subspecialty training in Heart Failure and Echocardiography as an Associate Consultant. I was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) in 2020 and undertook Fellowship training in Advanced Heart Failure, Left ventricular assist device and Heart Transplant at the Royal Papworth Hospital, National Health Service Foundation Trust in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2023. I am currently a Senior Consultant with the Department of Cardiology as well as the Director of the Coronary Care Unit at the National Heart Centre Singapore. My subspecialty interests are in Echocardiography, Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Heart Transplant, and Intensive Care Medicine. I have some experience in clinical research and have published in peer reviewed journals. I am passionate about medical education and have taken up roles as clinical lecturers in local universities and polytechnics. I was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in 2019. I have served as Core Faculty Member of the Cardiology Senior Residency since 2017 before being appointed Programme Director in 2024. I have also served as Core Faculty of the Internal Medicine Residency Programme since 2017 and was previously appointed Associate Programme Director (Chair of Admissions and Programme Evaluation Committee) in 2020 till I left for my HMDP. I am also previously a faculty member for the Ethics course run by The Center for Medical Ethics and Professionalism (CMEP), Singapore Medical Association. Externally, I have been a member of the National Post-Cardiac Arrest and Survivorship (PCAS) Workgroup since 2017. I have also previously served in the committees of the Singapore Cardiac Society as well as a Board member in the Chapter of Cardiology, Academy of Medicine Singapore.
