Frieder Braunschweig

Frieder Braunschweig is the Director of Cardiology at Karolinska University Hospital and a Professor of Cardiology at the Karolinska Institutet, both Stockholm, Sweden. He has longstanding clinical and research experience in invasive electrophysiology and management of patients with atrial fibrillation. In 2002 he completed his Ph.D. thesis on “Devices in Heart Failure” and has since been active in research on cardiac resynchronization therapy, implantable defibrillators, telemedicine and home monitoring. He has been awarded clinical researcher scholarships by the Stockholm County Council and the Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation and has been investigator and steering committee member in many clinical trials. Dr Braunschweig has served as the president of the Swedish Society of Cardiology and has held several positions within the European Society of Cardiology and it´s Associations for Heart Rhythm and Heart Failure. Recently, he participated in the task force on ESC guidelines in cardiac pacing and CRT and became deputy editor of the European Heart Journal open.
