Professor Ference is an interventional cardiologist & genetic epidemiologist who was educated and trained at Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge Universities. He is the world’s leading authority on using causal inference in cardiovascular medicine, and his work has transformed our understanding of what causes cardiovascular disease and how to estimate the benefit of therapeutic interventions. This work has informed randomized trial design, clinical practice guidelines, and health policies around the world. He is the inventor of Naturally Randomized Trials and the new field of Causal AI. His Senior leadership positions have included Professor & Director of Research at Cambridge; Executive Director of an Independnet Reseatch Institure; Chief of a large Clinical Cardiology Service at a US university; CMO & CSO for a public-private collaboration designing the Chinese Precision Medicine Initiative in Beijing; and Founder & CEO of a biotechnology company.
