Børge G. Nordestgaard is a world-renowned physician-scientist who serves as a Professor and Chief Physician at the Copenhagen University Hospital and the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He has dedicated more than 40 years to researching the fundamental biological mechanisms, clinical diagnoses, and targeted therapies for familial hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, lipoprotein(a), triglycerides, remnant cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease. Demonstrating massive leadership within global lipidology networks, he currently serves as the President of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS).

Professor Nordestgaard has a prolific publishing history, having authored 1,027 original scientific articles and 175 reviews, consensus statements, and editorials in premier journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and JAMA. He maintains an H-index of 185 in Web of Science and is consistently categorized within the top 0.1% of researchers worldwide with the most highly cited papers. He also actively guides large-scale prospective clinical tracking as the Chairman of the landmark Copenhagen General Population Study and as a steering committee member for the Copenhagen City Heart Study and five separate international phase 3 cardiovascular intervention trials.
