Francisco Lopez-Jimenez is an established cardiologist and clinical investigator who graduated from the Leon School of Medicine at Guanajuato University in 1991. He pursued extensive clinical and research training across elite institutions, completing fellowships in clinical epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, echocardiography at Brigham and Women's Hospital, behavioral medicine at the University of Miami, and general cardiology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. To complement his clinical background with executive administration skills, he also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Augsburg University.
Dr. Lopez-Jimenez leads a distinguished career at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he holds the Roderick H. Cushman Professorship in Cardiovascular Sciences and operates as Professor of Medicine. He coordinates key specialized domains as the Chair of the Division of Preventive Cardiology and the Co-Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Cardiology. His research focuses on modifiable risk factors, digital health innovations, machine learning applications for electrocardiogram (ECG) data, and body fat composition tracking, supporting a vast bibliography of peer-reviewed articles and clinical patents. Additionally, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Mayo Clinic Proceedings and Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health, chairs the American College of Cardiology's Advanced Healthcare Analytics Workgroup, and is the Chair-elect of the American Heart Association's Lifestyle Obesity Committee.
