Mark Petrie

Mark Petrie is a Professor of Cardiology and Honorary Consultant in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow and a cardiologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, UK. He has a high-volume clinical practice and a significant background as an interventional and heart failure/transplant cardiologist. His extensive research is concentrated on diabetes and cardiovascular disease, various heart failure interventions (including AF ablation, devices, and revascularisation), inflammation, microvascular disease in HFpEF, obesity, and cardio-oncology.


He has held leadership positions in over 40 Clinical Events Committees and major trials such as DAPA-HF, EMPACT-MI, and IRONMAN. He is a highly prolific author, having published more than 410 original publications. Additionally, he holds several influential positions, including a Board membership of the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology and the Deputy Editor role for the European Journal of Heart Failure.
