Lorenzo Richiardi

Lorenzo Richiardi is Full Professor in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Turin (Italy), Director of the Cancer Epidemiology Unit at the University Hospital Città della Salute e della Science di Torino (Turin, Italy), and coordinator of the Referral Center for Epidemiology and Oncological Prevention in Piedmont. He is the acting president of the Italian Epidemiological Association.

He graduated in Medicine in 1999 and received his PhD in Epidemiology at the Karolinska Institutet (Stockholm, Sweden) in 2004. Since then, he has been working at the University of Turin, with short periods abroad at the Massey University (Wellington, New Zealand) and the Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, USA). His main research interests include cancer epidemiology, life-course epidemiology, molecular epidemiology and epidemiological methods.

He is the principal investigator of the NINFEA birth cohort and member of the steering committee of the Piccolipiù birth cohort. He is involved in several Eu-funded projects, international consortia and national projects. Lorenzo Richiardi has been teaching epidemiology and biostatistics in national and international courses, and he is co-coordinator of the European Educational Programme in Epidemiology.
