Markus Lingman is a cardiologist and specialist in internal medicine who possesses extensive experience in healthcare administration and management. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Intelligence Officer at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. In addition to his primary clinical leadership role, he holds academic responsibilities as an adjunct professor at the University of Halmstad and acts as an affiliated researcher at both the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg.
Dr. Lingman's clinical research and professional focus center primarily on the strategic application of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics in medicine. He has served as a consulting expert to the World Health Organization (WHO), sits on the board of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, and functions as a member of the Scientific Council for Medicine and Health at the Swedish Research Council. Recognized as a national leader in informatics, he was named the "AI Swede of the Year," served as the principal author and editor of the Handbook on Information-Driven Care and AI (2025), and spearheaded a patient-centric data platform recognized as Best Practice by EPPerMed in 2025.
