Lina Badimon

Prof. Lina Badimon is the Chief of the Molecular Pathology and Therapeutics of Ischemic and Atherothrombotic Diseases Group at IR-Hospital Santa Creu and San Pau, Director of the Cardiovascular Research Chair of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Professor at the National Research Council of Spain (CSIC), and Director of the UNESCO Chair in Biomedical Sciences Training and Research. She is Visiting Professor of Manchester University (UK) and of Paris-East Val de Marne (FR). Her research activities focus on ischemic heart diseases, cardio-metabolic diseases, thrombosis and atherosclerosis. She has published over 660 articles in highly qualified scientific journals with her work highly quoted (H-index: 88. Number of citations: >70,630. ORCID number: 0000-0002-9162-2459). She has written more of 250 reviews and book chapters. She is Member of Editorial Boards of various international scientific journals and Member of Scientific Advisory Boards of International Research Institutions and Funding Agencies. Previous appointments: Director of the Cardiology Research -Division of Cardiology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York (1983‐1991); Lecturer in Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Boston (1991‐1994); Consultant at the Cardiac Unit-Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston (1991‐1994); director of Institute for Cardiovascular Research ICCC-CSIC (2003-2018). Prof. Lina Badimon is Professor of Medicine at the Medical School of UVic-UCC and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation for Health and Innovation (FICSI). Her research activities focus on atherosclerosis, cardio-metabolic diseases, and ischemic heart disease. She has published over 731 articles in highly qualified journals that include from guidelines on medical practice to basic science, and clinical and translational research. Her work has been highly cited (citations: >80,000) in the scientific literature. Previous appointments include Director of the Cardiovascular Area at IR-Sant Pau Barcelona (2018- 2025); Director of the Cardiovascular Sciences Institute-ICCC/CSIC in Barcelona (2003-2018); and Head of Department of Molecular Pathology and Therapeutics at CSIC/Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau, Barcelona (1992-2003).
