Dr. Wael Abdulrahman Almahmeed is a distinguished Consultant Cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and a Clinical Associate Professor at UAE University. With a career spanning over three decades, he is recognized as a leading figure in Middle Eastern cardiology, having served as the President of the Emirates Cardiac Society and a founding member of the Gulf Heart Association. Dr. Almahmeed holds prestigious fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
Throughout his career, Dr. Almahmeed has been a prolific researcher and a national coordinator for landmark global studies, including INTERHEART, REACH, and PURE. His work focuses on acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and dyslipidemia management in the Arab world. He has been instrumental in raising clinical standards in the UAE, leading Sheikh Khalifa Medical City to achieve the first Chest Pain Center accreditation outside the USA.
