Fabio Ghezzi

Fabio Ghezzi is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Ob/Gyn Department at the Women's and Children Hospital, University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. He is the Director of the Ob/Gyn Residency Program at the University of Insubria and adjunct Professor at the University of Wien. Since 2018 he is an Honorary member of the British Society of Gynecological endoscopy. He has performed more than 15000 gynecological operations for both benign and malignant gynecological diseases. He has authored more then 400 peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters. He is a worldwide recognized leader in the field of mini- and micro-laparoscopy in gynecology and gynecological oncology. He has participated at several scientific meetings in different Countries as invited speaker or surgeon during live surgeries. He is involved in several educational programs at national and international level on the topics of gynecological endoscopy and gynecological oncology. He has been involved in several international trials and research activities on surgery, oncology and translational medicine.

Fabio Ghezzi, MD, is Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Insubria in Varese, Italy, and at ASST Sette Laghi directs the Department of Gender Medicine for Women’s Health and the Complex Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has performed more than 20,000 gynaecological procedures using open, vaginal and minimally invasive surgery for both benign and malignant disease.

His academic and research contributions are extensive, including:

Minimally invasive surgery: His main interest in recent years has been the development of new endoscopic techniques, with studies on minimally invasive treatment of ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancers and on 3 mm and 2 mm instruments, including for sentinel lymph node techniques.
International training: He completed research fellowships in maternal-fetal medicine at the Perinatology Research Branch of the US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, in Detroit and Washington DC, and a clinical fellowship at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel.
Professional recognition: He is Past President of the Italian Society of Gynecological Surgery, Honorary Member of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy and Adjunct Professor at the University of Vienna.

Professor Ghezzi has authored more than 550 scientific publications, with an h-index of 71 and over 20,000 citations, and has performed live surgery at congresses and courses in many countries.
