Eugenio Gutiérrez

Eugenio Gutiérrez is an Associate Professor at the Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN), Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Denmark. Eugenio's vision is to understand the interaction between brain hemodynamics and energy demands of neuronal circuits and their role in neurodegenerative diseases. He also specializes in investigating candidate drugs to prevent microvascular disruption and improve brain oxygenation in neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer's disease. To fulfill his vision, he applies advanced in-vivo optical imaging techniques such as two-photon microscopy, laser speckle imaging, and optogenetics to understand the changes in flow dynamics and oxygenation induced during functional activation of different brain areas of murine disease models.
