RATIONALE

Pharmacological research has always represented a privileged frontier for the advancement of knowledge and the identification of new therapeutic possibilities. Today, however, the pharmacologist is required to look further: to possess the ability to transform scientific excellence into value, translating research insights and results into solutions capable of meeting real clinical needs and generating a concrete impact on health and society.

In this scenario, the role of the pharmacologist is evolving: alongside the production of knowledge, there is a growing need to lead complex processes, build credible visions, and steer ideas along structured development paths. The creation of academic spin-offs and the dialogue with the innovation ecosystem have become fundamental steps in transforming basic research into a recognizable proposition capable of engaging the market and attracting investment to support the development of new treatments.

The 4th SIF-ECPG Masterclass "Pharmacologists 2.0", titled "Skills for Success: Leading Innovation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence," was created to support young pharmacologists during this crucial phase of their professional journey. It offers tools to interpret the potential of their research, enhance its project-based value, and navigate the transition from scientific discovery to value creation.

The Training Path
The program is developed along three closely integrated pillars:

Leadership is explored as the ability to lead oneself and others, to make decisions in complex contexts, and to build work environments founded on trust, responsibility, and ethics.

Spin-off creation and investment attractiveness provide an in-depth look at the transition from research as the advancement of knowledge to the definition of sustainable development models capable of securing expertise, resources, and capital.

Artificial Intelligence represents an enabling factor that can accelerate research, support strategic choices, and strengthen the quality of innovative proposals—provided it is used in a conscious and responsible manner.

Through an experiential methodology that combines strategic reflection, real-world case studies, practical exercises, and peer-to-peer exchange, the Masterclass aims to strengthen participants' ability to transform scientific ideas into structured, credible, and potentially scalable projects.

The ultimate goal is to contribute to the training of pharmacologists who are capable not only of exploring new frontiers of knowledge but also of leading innovation with ethical and conscious leadership. By doing so, they take an active role in creating value and defining development pathways in dialogue with the investment world, with a focus on scientific responsibility and real-world impact.
