Dr. Ichitaro Abe is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, and a Visiting Researcher at Oita University. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Science from Oita University and served as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center). Dr. Abe is a recipient of multiple awards, including the UJA Award (2024) and gold medals from the Japanese Circulation Society.
His research interests lie at the intersection of metabolism and cardiac health, with a specific focus on the molecular mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and epicardial adipose tissue. He has authored high-impact publications in Nature, Nature Communications, and Cell Metabolism. His work is supported by several prestigious grants, including those from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the AMED-PRIME program.
