Andrea Romano

Andrea Romano, PhD, is Associate Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Maastricht University and Medical Centre, the Netherlands. He has over 20 years of research experience in endometrial biology, investigating disorders of both the reproductive age and the postmenopausal period.

His research contributions are extensive, including:

• Reproductive disorders: Research on infertility and endometriosis, disorders of the endometrium in women of reproductive age.
• Uterine cancers: Studies on endometrial carcinoma and other uterine cancers arising in the postmenopausal period.
• Experimental models: Use of in vitro systems, organoids, organ-on-a-chip and in vivo models, with investigations approached from the angle of steroid hormones and signalling.

Dr Romano is an ambassador of the World Endometriosis Society and a member of the executive board of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
