In particular, he has focused onthe optimisation of radiotherapy treatments using different imaging techniques integrated with radiotherapy equipment to the point of being among the first in Europe to use hybrid machines with magnetic resonance imaging equipment; the integration of radiotherapy and surgery, in which he has collaborated to conduct pre-operative and intra-operative programmes; the integration between radiotherapy and chemotherapy, in which he applied several programmes for the combined treatment of locally advanced neoplasms especially in GI, GU, Lung and H&N; he participated in the definition of international guidelines in the treatment of gastrointestinal neoplasms and for the delineation of the target volume, in particular in collaboration with the European societies ESTRO and EORTC together with ASTRO and TROG. In the last decade he has been responsible for the integration of art in the reception of patients in the Radiotherapy Oncology Service and in the last two years he has directed the implementation of the project Art4ART (Art for Advanced Radiation Therapy) with the integration of multidimensional platforms, immersive rooms and environments embellished with reproductions of works of art from major Italian museums, with the aim of gathering evidence on the possibility of art in contributing to the healing process.
