Education He was graduated in Medicine and Surgery with full marks at Modena University and he is specialised in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology at Modena University always with full marks (70/70 cum laude). Major Professional and Research Interests He conducted studies on the mechanisms of cellular damage induced by toxic substances, in particular ethanol, cocaine and iron, evaluating the biochemical lesion markers due to the action of free radicals. He has conducted studies on the mechanisms involved in the modulation and expression of the HIV virus. He has developed and validated the introduction of immunochemical methods on automatic instrumentation for drug dosing and has actively participated in the development of both intralaboratory and inter-laboratory quality control programs on immunometric and chromatographic analytical data, in particular toxicological drug. He has developed analytical methods for the determination of substances of abuse, drugs and metabolites of xenobiotics on both high pressure liquid chromatographic systems and in mass spectrometry. Further he is interested in the field of Laboratory Medicine of Autoimmunity and Allergology, EBLM, Oncohematology, Big data analysis, and recently in Covid19 disease. He participated as speaker in several National and International Congresses and Courses. He published 226 papers in peer reviewed Journals reported in PubMed the great majority in International Journals with Impact Factor and more than 100 paper in Italian journal in Italian languages. H Index Scopus and Web of science = 34; Google Scholar 39 He presented more than 400 abstracts of posters or oral communications at National and International Congresses. He conducted several clinical trials according to the GCP rules. Principal Clinical and Hospital Service Responsibilities since 1981 to 1989 he worked in clinical setting as medicine doctor in a general medicine division and Emergency service in Modena Public Health Service and from1990 to 2000 in a Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Service. From 2001 he is the Director of Laboratory Medicine Service of the Health Care System in Modena and from 2004 up to now of the Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Department of both Modena Health Public Service and University of Modena. He has been associate member of the Committee on Evidence Based Laboratory Medicine of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (C-EBLM IFCC) and a member of the IOF-IFCC Joint Working Group on Bone Marker Standards since 2009 as well as of the IFCC Study Committee on Autoimmunity . From 2012 to 2017 he was the scientific head of the educational events Sibioc- Laboratory Medicine as Provider. From 2018 to 2020 he was the Chairman of the Scientific Division of SIBioC– Medicina di Laboratorio. Healthcare Management experience He is member of the working group at the AssR National and Regional Health Services Agency on \"Technology Assessment” recommendations for clinical laboratory diagnostics and he has been appointed as expert at the Ministry of Health for the revision of the National LEA (Livelli essenziali di Assitenza the basic health care activities that have to be guarantee to all Italian citizen). He collaborated to develop Clinical Governance policy in terms of appropriateness in clinical laboratory in healthcare national board. He has been as teacher in educational courses oriented towards organizational management in healthcare setting at the Ausl of Modena, the Guido Carli Luiss Business School of Rome, University of Milan etc.
