Sophie Gumy

Sophie Gumy has been working in WHO for 16 years and, in her current position at the Climate Change, Energy and Air Quality Unit, she is leading WHO's work on evidence synthesis and monitoring of ambient air pollution exposure and related disease burden. Prior to this, she was working on the burden of disease from various environmental risk factors, including air pollution, water and sanitation and climate change. She has also served in the Environment and Development Division at UNESCAP in Bangkok, working on eco-efficiency indicators and policy tools to promote environmentally sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

She is a scientist by training and holds a PhD in Biophysics and Molecular Biology. She also holds degrees in statistics and a MPH (environmental health stream).
