Sònia Luque Pardos, Pharm D., Ph.D., obtained her degree at the University of Barcelona and her Ph.D. from the University Autònoma of Barcelona. She is a faculty member of the Pharmacy Department at the Hospital del Mar, Barcelona, Spain. She has a Master's Degree in Application and Control of Antimicrobial Therapy of Universitat Autónoma of Barcelona. She has been working in the study of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of antimicrobials, especially for infections caused by multidrug Gram-negative bacteria (MDR-GN).
Currently, she is currently involved in various national and international research projects. Her research has been focused in the optimization of the antimicrobials based on the PK/PD, especially for the new betalactams/ betalactamase inhibitors, in order to maximize the efficacy and prevent the emergence of resistance.
She is a member of the Infectious Pathology and Antimicrobials Research Group (IPAR) of the Institut Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques (IMIM) and also of the Spanish Network for Research in Infectious Diseases (REIPI).
She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of Anti-Infectives Study Group (EPASG) of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and the chair of the Study Group of Infectious Diseases of the Sociedad Española de Farmacia Hospitalaria (SEFH).
She has been awarded with two postdoctoral fellowships, one at the Center for Pharmacodynamics of the University of Liverpool and the second in the Ersmus Center of Rotterdam in 2018 and 2022, respectively.
To date, she has published over 60 articles in the field of the Infectious Diseases in different international journals.
She has been awarded by the National Spanish Health System with a 2-year fellowship as a clinical researcher in the PK/PD area.
