Dr. Silvio Monfardini is the author the main fields of Medical Oncology of of over 350 indexed publications, of whom over 100 dedicated to Geriatric Oncology His works covers the main fields of Medical Oncology with particular reference to non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, Hodgkin’s disease, chronic myeloid leukaemia, solid tumors (in particular testicular carcinomas) phase I-II studies and tumors in the elderly. He has given an original contribution in :1) the study of the impact of initial prognostic factors in chronic myelogeneous leukaemia during the period spent at the New York Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 2) the role of chemotherapy associated to radiotherapy in the initial stages of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, 3) the study of AIDS-related neoplasia at the Centro di Riferimento Oncologico of Aviano, and 4) the role of the multidimensional geriatric evaluation in neoplasia in the elderly as well as specific therapeutic approaches for cancer in the older people at the Centro di Riferimento Oncologico of Aviano, at the Istituto Tumori of Napoli , at the Azienda Ospedaliera, Università di Padova and at the Fondazione Don Gnocchi of Milano. Teaching activity He has been heading the UICC antitumoral chemotherapy teaching project organizing so over than 35 courses in European and International Countries. He is author of the Manual of Medical Oncology (International Union Against Cancer) and has contributed to other oncology manuals and text books He has carried out a periodic didactic activity mostly in regional national courses organized by the AIOM (Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Medica) and medical oncology courses by the ESO (European School of Oncology). Former Teaching lecturer in the medical oncology courses of the Oncology Specialization courses at the Padova and Napoli University Medical School.
