Rosa Suades (RS) is a junior researcher of Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (CIBERCV) from Institute of Health Carlos III at the Research Institute of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (IR SANT PAU). She previously obtained her PhD entitled “Role of microparticles in atherothrombosis” at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) under the supervision of Prof. Lina Badimon (2014), by which she was granted by the Doctoral School PhD Extraordinary Award from UPF and the “Enrique Fuentes Quintana” Health Science PhD Award from the Spanish Foundation of Savings Banks FUNCAS for excellence and rigor in her doctoral research (2016). She did a postdoctoral stage at the Molecular Cardiology Group within Cardiology Unit, Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) under the supervision of Prof. Francesco Cosentino (2017-2021). During her postdoctoral stage, she was a member of the Steering Committee at the KI Junior Faculty. RS has received predoctoral fellowships from CIBER OBN (obesidad y Nutrición) and from Instituto Carlos III (PFIS-FI09/00092, ISCIII) and postdoctoral fellowships from European Society of Cardiology (ESC Research Grant) and Daniel Bravo Andreu Foundation. In 2021, she was the recipient of a returning Beatriu de Pinós fellowship [2019BP00211] from University and Research Grants Management Agency (Government of Catalonia) co-funded by COFUNDMarie Skłodowska-Curie Actions in the Horizon 2020 programme (European Commission). RS has published 39 articles (h-index = 20) including original manuscripts and reviews with >1500 total citations. RS has been co-investigator of International and National research projects funded by the government. RS has been awarded with the Young Investigator Award of European Mediterranean League Against Thromboembolic Diseases (EMLTD) (Valencia 2014 and Istambul 2016), Young Investigator Award of International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) (Amsterdam 2013) and travel grants from ESC (London 2015 and Munich 2018). RS is ad-hoc reviewer of peer-reviewed international journals and she has co-directed several undergraduate and graduate students. She is member of professional societies (ESC, ESC Scientists of Tomorrow, EMLTD, and Spanish Society of Cardiology). Her main research interests involve extracellular vesicles, non-coding RNAs and microRNAs, epigenetics, platelets, cardiovascular risk factors, diabetes, subclinical atherosclerosis and thrombosis, ischaemic heart disease, among others.
