Dr Rita Tostes is a Professor of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Sao Paulo, Ribeirao Preto Medical School. Dr Tostes received her PhD from the University of Sao Paulo and completed her academic training at The University of Montreal, Canada and at The Medical College of Georgia, USA under the mentorship of Professors Ernesto Schiffrin, Rhian Touyz and R.Clinton Webb. Her lab investigates how sex hormones, aldosterone and the immune system influence arterial function. Her students and post-doctoral fellows have received several awards including travel awards to attend ET Conferences, and other international meetings by the American Heart Association, the American Physiological Society (APS), American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), Inter-American Society of Hypertension (IASH), International Society of Hypertension (ISH).
