Reiko Shiomura

Dr. Reiko Shiomura is an Attending Physician in the Department of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Osaka, Japan. She holds an MD from Nippon Medical School and a PhD, with certifications as a board-certified cardiologist and specialist in intensive care medicine. Dr. Shiomura is also certified for the management of implantable Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).

Throughout her career, Dr. Shiomura has gained extensive experience in cardiovascular emergencies, including out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock. She is an active researcher, exploring the impact of biomarkers like brain natriuretic peptide and bilirubin on heart failure outcomes. Her current work focuses on advanced therapies for severe heart failure and heart transplantation. She is a committee member of the Japanese Circulation Society’s Resuscitation Science Working Group and a contributor to national diversity guidelines.
