I am working as senior Registrar in Cardiology from the 1st of June 2017, to date, at the Institute of Cardiology at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, a tertiary health care hospital. I have completed 29 months of the total 36 month programme of local training. The center in which I work is the national referral center for both intervention and imaging. It provide cardiac care for approximately 500 patients per day. It is able to give in patient care for 95 inpatients and consists of a) Coronary Care Unit (8 beds) and an intermediate Coronary Care Unit (9 beds). b) Four cardiac wards with two dedicated post procedure wards. c) Three functioning catheter labs which runs year round to accommodate the 24 hour primary PCI program, the only cardiology center, do so in the country. d) A dedicated pace maker laboratory for temporary and permanent pacing. e) An echocardiography section which houses echo machines capable of the transthoracic 2D Echo, Trans oesophageal echocardiography including 3D TOE & Stress ECHO. f) 24 hour holter monitoring as well as exercise ECG testing
