Piotr Gajewski

Piotr Łukasz Gajewski is a senior assistant cardiologist at the Institute of Heart Diseases in Wrocław, Poland, where he has worked since 2019 after previously serving as a junior assistant at the 4th Military Clinical Hospital. He is a certified cardiology specialist with additional qualifications in internal medicine and holds both an MD and a PhD from the Medical University of Wroclaw. His training includes Advanced Life Support certification, an ACVC School program in Barcelona, and a month‑long internship in cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia and intensive care at Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan.

His clinical expertise focuses on acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure management, and hemodynamic assessment. He is actively engaged in clinical research, including work on HFpEF pathophysiology and exercise intolerance. He has extensive experience as both sub‑investigator and principal investigator in international clinical trials related to heart failure and acute coronary syndromes.

His publication record includes numerous peer‑reviewed articles in prominent cardiology journals, covering topics such as hemodynamics, congestion phenotypes, lactate metabolism, splanchnic nerve modulation, and cardiovascular complications of COVID‑19. He is a member of the Polish Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, the Association for Acute CardioVascular Care, and the Heart Failure Association.
