Pietro Manuel Ferraro

Prof. Pietro Manuel Ferraro, MD MSC PHD FERA graduated in Medicine magna cum laude and after specializing in Nephrology he obtained a MSC in Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a PHD in Endocrinology. In 2020 he was awarded the title of “Distinguished Fellow of the European Renal Association” (FERA). He was Associate Professor of Nephrology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore from 2018 to 2023 and is currently Full Professor of Nephrology and Director of the Nephrology Postgraduate Program at Università degli Studi di Verona. His main fields of interest are the epidemiology and metabolic aspects of nephrolithiasis, nutrition, electrolyte disorders, chronic kidney disease, genetic kidney diseases. He has been Unit co-lead within the European Renal Kidney Disease Reference Network (ERKNet), Board member of the ERKNet Registry (ERKReg) and of the Euro-Cys Cystinuria Registry, member of the European Hyperoxaluria Consortium (OxalEurope) and of the ERA Registry Committee, Secretary of the Italian Dialysis and Transplant Registry and coordinator of the Project Group on “Rare Nephrolithiases and Nephrocalcinoses” of the Italian Society of Nephrology. He published more than 200 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (H-index 34 based on Scopus).
