(Parasitology with a Parasite Immunology dissertation topic) Work Experience: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) National Institutes of Health Bethesda, MD United States Program Director, 5/2014 – 2/2022 Senior Program Director, 2/2022 – Present As a Health Scientist Administrator within NIDDK’s Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, I support basic and translational research related to gastrointestinal mucosal immunology and inflammation. Research projects within my portfolio cover innate and adaptive gastrointestinal immunity; various aspects of mucosal inflammation and colitis; interactions between the gut microbiome and the host that promote immunological homeostasis; and approaches to inflammatory bowel disease and other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract with immune or infectious components, As the Director for the Digestive Diseases Research Cores Centers program, I support shared resources (i.e., core facilities) with the goal of fostering interdisciplinary cooperation between investigators that conduct high quality research on digestive and liver diseases.
