Dr. D’Orléans-Juste received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Sherbrooke in 1987 (supervisor: Dr Domenico Regoli) and did his post-doctoral training at the William Harvey Research Institute in London, UK (supervisor: late Sir John Vane, FRS, Nobel Laureate of Medicine). He is currently a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Sherbrooke where he was recruited in 1989. He was appointed Chairman of his Department in 1999 until 2004. Dr D’Orléans-Juste developed and was the first director (2000-2005) of the only French speaking BSc program in pharmacology in North America. Finally, he was the first appointed director of the Transferable Skills center at the University of Sherbrooke between 2010 and 2015. Funded uninterruptedly by granting agencies in Canada and the pharmaceutical industry throughout his career, Dr. D’Orléans-Juste has authored or co-authored hundreds of peer-reviewed articles (274), 15 book chapters and a monography on ACE inhibitors. Currently, his main research interests address the contribution of mast cell derived serine proteases in thrombosis and in the production of endothelins in cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, heart failure and multiple sclerosis. Dr D’Orléans-Juste has successfully trained 25 MSc, 17 PhD and 7 post-doctoral students during his career. Dr D’Orléans-Juste has received the Merck Frost Young Investigator Award in Cardiovascular Sciences (1995) and was among the top 100 most cited pharmacologists worldwide (2002). Associate Editor for several journals (Frontiers in Pharmacology, British Journal of Pharmacology, Vascular Pharmacology) since 1992, he also acted as Editor in Chief of the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology (2016-2022). Dr D’Orléans-Juste also chaired, co-organized, and hosted two International Conferences on Endothelin-1 (Montreal, 1999 and 2009) and is one of the founding members of the ET-International Advisory Board.
