Born in Milano, Italy, september 13, 1953. University Studies Graduated in Medicine at the State University of Milano, on july, 1978. Residency in General Surgery (five years) at the State University of Milano (1983). Residency in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (five years) at the State University of Siena (1989). Hospital Career 1992-2002 Attending Surgeon at the Emergency Department of the University Hospital of Milano (IRCCS Ospedale Maggiore di Milano) 2005-2010 Chief of Trauma service at the Emergency Department of the Ospedale Niguarda Ca’ Granda in Milano. Since 2010 director of Trauma and Emergency Surgery at the Emergency Department of the Ospedale Niguarda Ca’Granda in Milano. Academic Position Since 1986 Professor of Surgery at the Postgraduate School of General Surgery of the State University of Milano. From 2018 full professor of surgery at the State University of Milano. From 1997 Instructor of the Advanced Trauma Life Support of the American College of Surgeons. From 2011 Director of Advanced Trauma Operative Management course of the American College of Surgeons Public Health Position 1998 - 2001 coordinator of the research project of the Italian Ministry of Health about “The use of Hypertonic-Hyperoncotic Solutions in the resuscitation of hypotensive trauma patient”. 2003-2005 Member of the Ministry of Health Superior Council (a consultation office to the Italian Minister of Health) for the field of health emergencies. From 2019 Co-chair of the Ministry of Health panel for the production of national guidelines on trauma care Publications Author or Co-Author of 300 scientific papers on European and international journals. Editor of two books of General Physiology of the Human Body, of eight booklets about trauma care, one booklet about protocols in trauma care, one textbook of emergency medicine, one textbook about definitive trauma care.
