Professor Nicolas Roche is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Paris Cité University, and researcher at Cochin Institute, INSERM UMR1016 and at the Research Centre on Epidemiology and Population’s Health, INSERM U 1018, Villejuif, France. He heads the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Cochin Hospital, Paris, France. His major areas of interest are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, real-life research and inhaled therapy. He participated in the development of the French guidelines on asthma, and co-coordinates the production of the French guidelines on COPD. Professor Roche has authored or co-authored more than 450 articles and book chapters in the respiratory disease arena. He is past Guidelines Director and current Science Council Chair of the European Respiratory Society, member of the Global Initiative of Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) science committee, past president of the Société de Pneumologie de Langue Française, board member of the Respiratory Effectiveness Group and member of the American Thoracic Society. He has served as Editor in Chief of Revue des Maladies Respiratoires, serves as Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Review and belongs to the editorial board of European Respiratory Journal.
