Dr. Myo Thiri Aung is a highly accomplished Consultant Cardiologist based in Yangon, Myanmar, with over 15 years of clinical experience. She currently serves at the Cardiology Department of Yangon General Hospital, a role she has held since 2018. Her academic background is distinguished by an MBBS and an M.Med.Sc in Internal Medicine, followed by the prestigious MRCP (UK) certification in 2016 and a Dr.Med.Sc in Cardiology in 2021.
Since specializing in cardiology, Dr. Aung has developed extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care. She manages acute cases in the coronary care unit and runs specialized sessions in general cardiology and arrhythmia clinics. Her technical proficiency covers a wide range of non-invasive and invasive procedures, including echocardiography, exercise treadmill testing, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, and permanent pacemaker insertion.
Dr. Aung is an active member of the medical community, holding memberships in the Myanmar Medical Association’s Cardiac and Internal Medicine Societies, and is a Fellow of the ASEAN College of Cardiology. Her research contributions include studies on cardiovascular risk assessment in HIV patients and the predictive accuracy of echocardiographic resting global longitudinal strain in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
