Lucy Maina

Prof. Lucy W. Maina is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Development at the Department of Sociology, Gender and Development Studies at Kenyatta University, Kenya where she teaches various courses including Research Methods, Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis, Sociology of Development, Sociology of Ageing, Gender and Society, Social Welfare Policies and evaluation, Community Development and Organization among others. Her research focus is on income security and livelihoods, care economics, ageing and older persons’ welfare, women in informal sector, gender mainstreaming, community development, women and health among others. She works with development partners in relevant programmes and projects. She is the founder of the Kenya Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, a membership association affiliated to the IAGG and which seeks to advance rights of older persons through research knowledge dissemination, community dialogue and policy response to Ageing in Kenya and beyond.
