Lorna is currently the Teenage Cancer Trust funded Senior Research fellow based in the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit at University College London Hospitals leading the Teenage and Young Adult Applied Health Research Group. Prior to this she worked with the National Cancer Research Institute’s Teenage and Young Adults Clinical Studies Group and led the first national examination of access to research for young people and pioneered novel methods of involving young people in research as partners. Her research interests include improving the diagnostic experience of young people, access to research and evaluation of specialist care. Lorna has a molecular biology background and completed her PhD examining the long-term impact of chemotherapy on the bone marrow and genetic risk factors for the development of therapy- related acute myeloid leukaemia. She developed an interested in teenage and young adult cancers while working on an adult haematology transplant ward. Lorna Chaired the National Cancer Research Institutes Teenage and Young Adult Health Services Research Subgroup from June 2016- March 2022, and now Chairs the new TYAC Research Advisory Group.
