Laila O. Abdel-Wareth

Dr. Laila O. Abdel-Wareth is a distinguished leader in laboratory medicine and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) and CEO of Diagnostics for M42 Health in Abu Dhabi. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Biochemistry and a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Abdel-Wareth also holds an Executive Masters in Health Care Administration.

With an extensive background in clinical pathology and laboratory quality, Dr. Abdel-Wareth previously served as the Chief Medical Officer for SEHA’s Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Services. She is the President of the Emirates Society of Clinical Chemistry (ESCC) and a member of several international standard-setting bodies. Her research and publications cover a wide range of topics, from metabolic dysfunction and vitamin D deficiency to clinical laboratory accreditation and point-of-care testing. She has been recognized with the Dr. Arthur Bloomfield Award for Excellence in Medical Education.
