Dr.Gopinathan Raju is a Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Medicine Specialist currently practicing in Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. He joined PHKL on October 2011 and he is also a visiting Pain Specialists in few tertiary hospitals in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and at Queen Hospital, Doha, Qatar. He obtained his MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India in 1995. He completed his postgraduate training in Anaesthesiology and obtained his Masters Anaesthesiology from University Malaya in 2003. He further subspecialized in the field of Pain Medicine in Australia at the Professor Tess Cramond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Greenslopes Private Hospital and Mater Private Hospital for 3 years. Dr. Gopi is the first doctor in Malaysia to be awarded the Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetist by training and examination. He has also completed a Pain Medicine Fellowship (Interventions) from Axxon Pain Medicine Australia and obtained a Certificate of completion for fellowship (subspecialty) training in Pain Management from the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. Dr Gopi has given numerous lectures and conducted pain symposiums both locally and internationally. He is also involved in local and international research and teaching activities. He continues to propagate the field of Pain Medicine in Malaysia. He has special interest in treating pain of spinal origin utilizing latest interventional pain techniques under fluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance to help alleviate pain. Dr. Gopi is currently the President of the Malaysian Society of Interventional Pain Practitioners and deputy chairman of Asia Pacific Regenerative Medicine and Immunotherapy Association (ARMI)
