CURRENT POSITION: Associate Professor of Cardiology Department of Medicine Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden Heart failure Cardiologist Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden Gianluigi Savarese is an Italian/Swedish cardiologist, currently Associate Professor of Cardiology and Heart Failure Specialist at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. Over the last few years, he has published more than 250 articles on top peer reviewed journals. Major focus of his research is heart failure, with a particular interest in implementing use of guidelines recommended treatments, and phenotyping heart failure for improving clinical trial design. He is heavily involved in registry studies (Swedish Heart Failure Registry, HFA registries) and clinical trials, and he is expert in meta-analysis and big data analysis. He is board member of the Heart Failure Association and of the Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy of the European Society of Cardiology.

Gianluigi Savarese is an Italian and Swedish cardiologist currently operating as an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Karolinska Institutet within the Department of Clinical Science and Education. He also maintains a substantive clinical role as a Senior Consultant for Heart Failure at the Southern Hospital (Södersjukhuset) in Stockholm, Sweden. His primary research activities target heart failure, with a specific focus on characterizing cardiac phenotypes to improve international clinical trial design and optimizing the implementation of guideline-directed medical treatments.

Dr. Savarese possesses deep expertise in medical informatics and big data analysis, contributing heavily to major national and international registry initiatives including the Swedish Heart Failure Registry and various ESC registries. His scientific profile includes more than 450 published articles in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Demonstrating a strong presence within European cardiology networks, he is the Secretary of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the European Society of Cardiology and previously served as a board member and secretary for the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.
