Associate Professor in Cardiology and Director Cardiac Catherization laboratory- University Hospital Campus Bio-Medico HIGHLIGHTS Expert in adult and congenital cardiology interventions, he is one of the pioneers in transcatheter valve interventions field in Italy starting TAVI program in 2007, Mitraclip program in 2008 and performing in 2015 the first worldwide successful percutaneous trans-catheter mitral valve replacement with a dedicated self-expandable valve. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 peer reviewed manuscripts. He participated as expert speaker and performed live transmission case of transcatheter valve repair in national and international meetings. CLINICAL ACTIVITY Diagnosis and percutaneous transcateheter treatment of mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation, aortic valvulopathies, complex coronary interventions, structural heart interventions as mitral paravalvular leak closure, left atrial appendage closure, interatrial septal defect closure. RESEARCH ACTIVITY The main research field are: outcomes analysis of transcatheter valve procedures of mitral, tricuspid and aortic valvulopathies; fluido-dynamic study of transcatheter aortic valve prosthesis, cerebrovascular protection during complex cardiac interventions; invasive and non invasive multimodality imaging.
