George L. Daikos

George L. Daikos received his MD and PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Illinois, Chicago, IL. Dr Daikos has served the NKUA for 17 years in various academic positions and in the last 3 years as Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases and Chairman of First Department of Medicine. Currently, he is Director of the 2nd Department of Medicine of the MITERA Hospital in Athens, Greece. Dr. Daikos has published over 200 original articles, with more than 11,000 citations. His research focuses on healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance.
