Marat Fudim

Completed fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke University Medical Center (DUMC)/Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) in June 2020 and started as Cardiology faculty in July 2020. Research focus includes the pathophysiology of heart failure, the mechanism of vascular congestion, and the investigation of novel treatments for acute and chronic heart failure. Leads the Duke Heart Clinical Research Unit, is the director of the Duke HFpEF clinic, founded and leads the Heart Failure Remote Monitoring Clinic, and serves as the inaugural Director of Digital Health at the DCRI.

Has over 430 publications and has led or is currently leading several prospective clinical trials as a global Principal Investigator (PI) or steering committee member, including NIH-funded trials like Splanchnic X and SPIRRIT HFpEF. Was awarded the 2021 American College of Cardiology Douglas Zipes Distinguished Young Investigator Award.

Holds numerous positions and scientific appointments, including Chair of the Device in Heart Failure Task Force for the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) and serving on various scientific committees for the HFA and AHA. Also serves on advisory boards for a wide range of medical and device companies. Key contributions to science are categorized into investigations into the pathophysiology of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, clinical trials and analyses in the IV iron and heart failure space, and research on novel therapies for cardiovascular diseases.
