Evelien Dekker, born 2-2-1967, is a gastroenterologist and Professor in GI Oncology at the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, at the University of Amsterdam. Besides her clinical work, she leads a research group focusing on population screening and surveillance for colorectal cancer (CRC), quality and new techniques in colonoscopy, and familial cancer and polyposis syndromes. She has chaired and participated in multiple national and international guidelines, is actively involved in the Dutch national screening program for CRC and is currently global chair of the WEO CRC screening committee. She has co-authored over 425 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
