Elena Lazzeri

Elena Lazzeri is an Associate Professor in Technical Sciences of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florence. She serves as the Director of the School of Specialization in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry. She possesses a profound research background in nephrology , specifically in characterizing human adult renal progenitors and identifying response mechanisms like cell polyploidization following acute kidney injuries.

Professor Lazzeri has established an international scientific footprint with over 80 publications, a Scopus H-index of 44, and more than 8,800 citations. She is the principal investigator of numerous prestigious European and national grants (PRIN, Horizon 2020) and holds a registered patent for isolating renal progenitors from patient urine.
