CLINICAL AND RESEARCH ACTIVITY In the research group guided by Prof. P. Santus, Dr. Radovanovic is conducting research on clinical pharmacology, lung pathophysiology and mechanical ventilation in patients with asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis. His main research interests focus on the effects of bronchodilator therapy on pulmonary mechanics and small airways, lung inflammation, lung-heart interaction in stable COPD patients and during acute COPD exacerbations; he actively collaborates with national and international academic research centres, such as the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation of the University of Milan (Italy), the University of Ferrara (Italy) and the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Loyola University, Maywood – IL (USA). From 2015 he actively collaborates with Prof. Franco Laghi and Prof. Martin J. Tobin contributing to research on neuro-mechanical coupling of the diaphragm during mechanical ventilation. He collaborates with Prof. Stefano Aliberti (University of Milan) investigating pathophysiology of non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. With Prof. Edgardo D’Angelo and Prof. Matteo Pecchiari (Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation, Section of Human Physiology - University of Milan) he works on the implementation of plethysmographic algorithms for the characterization of airway resistances and lung mechanics, especially in patients with COPD. He collaborates with Prof. A. Papi and Prof. M. Contoli (University of Ferrara) studying the pathophysiology and natural history of mechanically-driven pulmonary inflammation in chronic respiratory diseases. He has been involved in several phase II and phase III clinical trials according to ICH-GCP as principal and sub-investigator. Since 2018 he is part of an international scientific board for diagnostic and treatment innovations in severe asthma. Since 2016 he is part of the editorial board of the Journal of Pulmunology and Respiratory Research and Global Drugs and Therapeutics He is member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and of the Italian Respiratory Society (SIP/SIRS). Since 2018 he is National Secretary of the Study Group on COPD and Comorbidities of Italian Respiratory Society
