David B. Blumenthal

Prof. Dr. David B. Blumenthal heads the Biomedical Network Science Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nürberg. Together with his team, he investigates molecular disease mechanisms, using techniques from network science, combinatorial optimization, and artificial intelligence. He also develops privacy-preserving decentralized biomedical AI solutions and is interested in meta-scientific questions such as reproducibility and the impact of data bias on biomedical AI systems. Before joining FAU, David studied mathematics and philosophy at FU and TU Berlin, did a PhD in computer science at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Experimental Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Munich.
