Alexis Tabah is a clinician researcher, medical Intensive Care Specialist both France and Australia with a special interest in severe infections in the critically ill. He is currently practicing in Brisbane, Australia as a staff specialist in the ICU and a senior lecturer for the University of Queensland. He has led the recently published ESICM/ESCMID(ESGCIP) position statement on Antimicrobial de-escalation in the critically ill. He also leads the Eurobact II multinational cohort study on Hospital acquired blood stream infections that is currently recruiting patients from 500+ ICUs in 60 different countries. His other main research interests are in safety of our patients and in family centred critical care via a research program on visitation policies in Australia and New Zealand ICUs.
