Afifi Arshad

Dr Afifi is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Specialist at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Northern Malaysia. Upon completing a Master’s Degree in Anaesthesiology, he pursued a subspecialty in Pain Medicine. In 2015, he completed 3 years of Fellowship in Pain Medicine under the mentorship of Dr Mary Cardosa at Hospital Selayang, Professor Stephan Schug at Pain Medicine Centre, Royal Perth Hospital and Adjunct Professor Philip Finch at Mount Hospital in Western Australia. He is a member and trainer for Pain Medicine Subspecialty, Regional Anaesthesia and Point-of-Care Ultrasound. He also holds an international CIPS certificate for ultrasound in pain intervention. He manages pain intervention for advanced refractory cancer within a team led by a palliative care physician in his hospital. The service ranges from peripheral and plexus nerve blocks to neurolysis and intrathecal drug delivery systems.
