RATIONALE:
An update of the Italian Guidelines on Kawasaki Disease in the light of the latest scientific evidence, with the aim of providing a clear, practical and evidence- based instrument to all professionals involved in the diagnosis, clinical management and continuity of healthcare. The document seeks to improve the appropriateness of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, harmonising clinical practices at a national level and promoting structured collaboration between specialists (paediatricians, rheumatologists, cardiologists, infectious disease specialists and others) and doctors working in various healthcare settings, from local clinics to peripheral hospitals and referral centres. An additional objective is that of enhancing the contribution of family associations, integrating their perspective to ensure a more effective, shared and patient-centred diagnostic and healthcare pathway.
