Prevention throughout the cardiovascular continuum demands a life‐course
strategy that addresses risk factors, organs and clinical syndromes as a single,
connected pathway—from obesity, diabetes and dyslipidaemia to vascular
inflammation, hypertension, angina, heart failure and cardiorenal disease.
This Menarini Foundation course brings together an international faculty to
review state‐of‐the‐art science and practical therapies at every step of that
pathway, including GLP‐1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors, advanced
lipid‐lowering strategies for LDL‐C, Lp(a) and triglyceride‐rich lipoproteins,
as well as PCSK9‐targeted and other emerging oral agents, and novel
anti‐inflammatory approaches to atherosclerosis. Through focused sessions on
obesity/diabetes, lipids, inflammation, hypertension, angina, heart failure and
the cardiorenal axis, the programme will address the management of high‐risk
phenotypes commonly seen in practice—such as patients with combined CAD,
HF, CKD, obesity or diabetes—and provide case‐based guidance on how to
sequence and combine therapies to reduce residual risk. Finally, participants
will explore how emerging tools in personalised medicine, including AI‐enabled
decision support, coronary CT imaging, contemporary clinical risk scores (e.g.
SCORE2 and SMART2) and polygenic risk scores, can refine cardiovascular risk
prediction, support shared decision‐making and help deliver truly individualised
prevention strategies in everyday clinical care.
