RATIONALE

Cardiology and – more broadly – Cardiovascular Medicine over the last 4 decades have witnessed some of the most remarkable advances in Medicine. Considering the management of myocardial infarction, heart failure, or valve diseases, despite advances in diagnosis effective management lagged until the end of the past millennium. But recent leaps forward have changed dramatically strategies that we can offer patients to prevent and treat cardiovascular conditions. Indeed, we were fortunate to witness such incredible developments. Yet, despite these advances, we must together confront new challenges, new unsolved problems, and new questions.

To frame these residual problems and evolve a path forward, this conference gathers a stellar panel of experts in the various areas of cardiology, ranging from prevention (risk assessment and biomarkers; lipid–lowering, antihypertensive, and anti–inflammatory drugs), to advances in ischemic heart disease, cardio–oncology, congenital heart disease. heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and arrhythmias/electrophysiology. We have selected the distinguished international faculty primarily from the Executive and Associate Editors of the European Heart Journal, which continues to grow as a leading cardiovascular journal. The full two-day program will explore areas which, despite remarkable progress, demand even further action.

We aim to forge a path for future research and development to meet the challenges investigators ponder and clinicians confront to increase knowledge and continue the conquest of the world’s leading scourge.
